A grain of salt can’t fit inside this mini handbag.
MSCHF— a product design studio that aims to go viral with every launch — announced the upcoming release of a handbag that requires a magnifying glass to see it.
The brand downsized a Louis Vuitton’s OnTheGo tote lookalike from 13.8 x 10.6 x 5.5 inches to a shrunken 657 x 222 x 700 micrometers.
“Imagine dropping it by mistake,” tweeted one person.” I would lose this sh-t so fast.”
MSCHF worked with biotechnology manufacturers to create the bag using a “stereolithographic process commonly used for making tiny mechanical biotech structures,” the company shared in a statement.
The rectangular lime green bag has a translucent appearance that is visible under a microscope’s backlight.
Chief Creative Officer Kevin Wiesner developed the minuscule purse to poke fun at the evolving trend of shrinking handbags.
“A practical object is boiled down into jewelry, all of its putative function evaporated; for luxury objects, useability is the angels’ share.”
Nowadays, people no longer use the accessory to store essential items, such as a wallet, instead, they tote finger bags because it compliments their outfits.
The oh-so-tiny handbag stirred a frenzy on social media, with many people straining their eyes at the microscopic bag.
“How did they make this?” questioned one person. “Omg this fashion meets science.”
“The ants are gonna swag up now,” chuckled another.
“MSCHF stay cuttin up,” tweeted a fashion lover.
The Microscopic Handbag will debut, in a sealed gel case under a microscope, exclusively at “Just Phriends” an event taking place at Pharrell Williams’ auction house “JOOPITER” on Jun. 19.
Earlier this year, the company known to play by their own rules released the “Big Red Boots” which they called “cartoon boots for a cool 3D world.”
Aside from the shoe’s outrageous look, what really had people talking was the horrific try-on experiences posted on TikTok, where shoppers struggled to get the boot off.
Viewers didn’t hold back — including the account for McDonald’s, writing, “Now u know how Ronald feels.”
“Searches how to remove large red boot without removing foot,” joked search the engine, Bing.
“Once you put them on, you can never take them off,” another joked.
